POV: You are me expressing about Social Media :LJ1
Social media posting truly interests me. On my personal do's, I find myself more at ease blogging and sharing my daily activities on multiple social media platforms, which is one of my individual ambitions. I like to share travel adventures and details of my daily activities, such as going to the gym, having fun, and managing coursework (one in which I receive various responses from people who relate). Even though sharing details about your personal life on social media can be amusing, there should be boundaries and principles. Only my family and friends have access to my social media accounts since I keep them private.
Social media has, in my opinion, turned toxic. I recall when I first started publishing things online, I was twelve years old. Everyone shared their experiences in a really honest and natural way, and they didn't give any thought to how they looked. In today's world of beauty standards where everyone tries to conform to unattainable life standards, photographs are manipulated, and filters rule the internet. Considering that I was hacked when I was younger, I wish I had understood more about cyber security when I first started using social media.
I believe that the content we put on social media and the way we express ourselves there should be original and realistic. Selfies are one example. There are countless filters available today that can change your face shape, eyes, hair color, skin tone, etc. Selfies and our online persona should be authentic and unaltered. We should utilize social media to express the goals we set along the way in something and to represent who we are as individuals and what we hope to accomplish as people. Since social media depends on how you express yourself as an individual, I believe everyone has their own set of standards and guidelines. In my perspective, it's common for people to decide to stop using social media. Yes, taking a break from using your phone and connecting to other things is nice, however, social media is also an essential working tool these days because it's how we communicate with businesses, and coworkers, and make announcements of all kinds.
Hey Maria! I really enjoyed reading your post. I particularly related to the portion at the end where you were discussing people taking breaks from social media. Personally, that was something that I had been considering for a while but I had also felt anxious about actually doing it. I realize now that this is because in today's world, social media plays such a crucial part in communication and staying connected. Not only is social media for socializing, but also for professional business, making it hard to quit completely.
